Your headquarters in Monster Hunter: World, Astera will be where you do everything from accepting quests, to crafting armor, to getting drunk with your friends in the gathering hub. Here you'll find a handy list of all the things you can do in Astera.

EditAccepting Quests

What's Monster Hunter without hunting monsters? To do this you'll need to accept quests from the boards around town. There will be one next to the research center on the first floor, and one next to the workshop. You'll also find a handy item box near each of these boards, allowing easy access to consumable crafting and arms layout for your character. You can also, of course, accept quests from the Handler in the Gathering Hub and your personal Handler who always fancies herself a snack in our next area on the third floor. Speaking of which!

EditThe Canteen

Veteran hunters know that the last thing you do before a hunt is to check that you've eaten. This has changed a little in Monster Hunter: World as now you can eat at your base camps, but nevertheless, should you wish to grab a bite before heading out to take on the big baddy in question, grab a bite here on the third floor.

EditThe Workshop

The most important location for progression with Monster Hunter, you'll be visiting the Workshop often to craft Weapons and Armor from the various monsters you take down. You can find both the Smithy and the Armory here. The smithy allows you to craft arms out of the monster pieces you gather, while the armory allows you to buy pre-built armor, though often it's not nearly as good as what you can craft.

EditThe Gathering Hub

Monster Hunter: World has shifted up the formula a bit in allowing you to go on any quest you have available with your teammates, meaning you no longer HAVE to go to a gathering hub to post quests you'll want to share in. Any of the quest boards/Handlers act as a shared list of available options. However, should you wish to see your friends, engage in some arm wrestling bouts or get drunk as a squad, this is the place to do it! It's also where you'll need to go to create a Squad, or to post Arena Quests. Check out How to Play With Friends in Monster Hunter World for more info.

EditProvisions Stockpile

Head here to purchase Potions, Trap Tools, Barrel Bombs and more essential hunting supplies.

EditBotanical Research

This is stationed at the base of the Ancient Tree, and is where you'll go to farm useful items to make full use of Crafting.

You'll have to complete optional quests to upgrade this incredibly important facility. Look for optional quests with thought bubbles next to them given by botanists - they'll unlock features like increased item variety, a larger harvest box, and the ability to harvest more items at a time.

EditResource Center

This is where you go to turn in and register Bounties and Delivery Quests. Make sure to always keep Bounties registered, as it's the only way to earn Armor Spheres. These items are used to upgrade your Armor, so start earning them before you really need them!

By completing all of the limited bounties, you'll also earn special prints, like Steel Wyverian Prints, which can be turned in for rare monster materials at the Elder Melder.

EditEcological Research

Everytime you collect more data on a monster, you'll have to come here to update your field guide.

EditYour Room

Want to take a break from all the hubbub of hunting and just relax with your Palico. Do I have the spot for you! Your room has very few functions that don't exist in other parts of Astera, but its tranquility makes up for it. Here you can show off small animals caught in your net from the wilds, and also change the color palette of your armor, something you can only do at the smithy otherwise. As you rise through the ranks of hunters, your room will also get nicer and nicer. It's always nice to get a little R&R, am I right?
