Fortnite Season 5 is getting close and new clues and mysteries are appearing throughout Season 4 that tease what's to come. Any updates on leaks, skins, the Battle Pass, and other changes will be updated on this page!
How will the heroes vs villains theme end? What's inside the meteor in Dusty Divot? The missile rocket in the evil lair? What about that giant dinosaur footprint? And what's with the weird TV display?
EditSeason 5 Release Date
Season 5 of Fortnite is set to begin on July 12 at 4am ET, immediately after Season 4 ends and the scheduled downtime is complete.
Edit7/10 Skeleton Discovered
A third item has spawned from the many rifts appearing all across the map. This it's the remains of animal that appeared in Moisty Mire.
Edit7/9 Objects Found Around the World
The Durr Burger that disappeared from Fortnite's map was suddenly discovered in a California desert. A police car along with an agent who handed out cards with a phone number were also present at the site.
Not long after, llamas began appearing in different European cities. There was nothing inside the llamas and there wasn't much you could do to interact with them, but it was cool nonetheless. The list of all seven llama locations:
- London, England
- London, England
- Cannes, France
- Paris, France
- Cologne, Germany
- Warsaw, Poland
- Barcelona, Spain
Edit7/8 Carriage Appears
Another item has appeared, this time an old carriage that was left on top of a hill east of the prison.
Edit7/6 The Anchor
At 1PM PT, the rift opened up and instead of swallowing up some nearby object, the rift spat out an ancient anchor. The time travel and history theories for Season 5 just got a big boost!
Interestingly, no other rift has been spotted since the appearance of the anchor.
Edit7/5 Greasy No More
The disappearance of prominent fast food mascots continues. At the same time as the days before it, the Durr Burger's mascot vanished before our eyes.
The next rift appeared... at the base of the mountain, west of Greasy Grove. There's nothing there for the rift to swallow up, so it'll be interesting to see what happens tomorrow.
Edit7/4 Nom, Nom, Nom
Like clockwork, the Noms sign at Retail Row vanished at 1PM PT and the next rift appeared in front of the Durr Burger at Greasy Grove.
Edit7/3 Goodnight, Sweet Prince
Right on schedule, the rift at Tomato Town opened and stole our precious tomato head right from above us. The next rift appeared in front of the Noms shop at Retail Row.
Edit7/2 Goodbye, Motel Sign
Again, at the same time, the rift that appeared at the motel the day prior opened up and swallowed the motel sign.
And as expected, a new rift appeared elsewhere on the map, this time in front of the giant tomato head statue at Tomato Town.
Edit7/1 Lonely Lodge Sign Disappears
At 1PM PT, the strange anomaly at Lonely Lodge opened up and swallowed the nearby sign at the top of the main cabin. After the disappearance, the rift was gone and the area went back to normal.
At the same time, a new rift appeared in front of the big sign at the motel.
Edit6/30 Strange Anomaly
Right after the rocket launch, a strange anomaly appeared in front of the main cabin of Lonely Lodge. Anyone standing near it will hear a loud hum, but there's nothing you can do to interact with it.
Edit6/30 Rocket Launch
Before the event took place, Epic announced that a one-time event was to take place on Saturday, June 30 at 10:30am PT. Everyone who logged on and entered a game at that time witnessed the rocket launching from the evil lair.
As expected, the rocket launched from the evil lair and headed straight up into the sky. Soon after, a red laser touched down on Tilted Towers and the rocket returned to supposedly destroy the infamous town. Just before impact, the rocket hit what looked liked an invisible shield. The rocket vanished and reappeared a little distance away where it began to move out of control. At the end, the rocket shot back up where it tore a large rip in the sky.
EditSkulls on TVs
Starting with Week 7, red ominous skulls started to appear on every TV on the map. Similar to the last season's color bars that appeared towards the end of the season, this strange message seems to be pointing at something big coming soon.
EditInside the Meteor
The start of Season 4 brought the demise of Dusty Depot with a giant crater and a research center around the meteorite that created the impact.
With each passing week, the meteorite was continuously drilled into until the metallic object inside was fully revealed during Week 7. The object turned out to be some kind of holding chamber and whatever was inside seems to have escaped.
These weekly changes coincided with the Blockbuster challenges where the final loading screen revealed the Visitor skin standing in front of the meteorite. Completing seven weeks of challenges will unlock the Visitor outfit.
It's unclear how this will play into the rest of the season.
EditTransporting Hop Rocks
At the start of Season 4, Hop Rocks became available to collect at every crater on the map. Since then, they've slowly been moved into transport trucks and each week these trucks move to a different location.
Looking at them from afar, they seem to all be headed towards the villain's lair on the west side of the map where the rocket is at. What are all these Hop Rocks needed for?
EditThe Missile Rocket
The evil lair on the west side of the map has been around since the start of Season 4, but it looks like it's going to play a much larger role than previously expected.
According to a recent datamine of the 4.4 patch, the missile rocket is set to take off and players will even be able to activate the rocket themselves. Players who go to the evil lair now can see a new hologram activated near the missile.
To help further this, the leaked Week 8 loading screen shows the new Visitor outfit initiating a launch sequence on the missile.
What exactly happens once the rocket takes off? Nothing has been shared or leaked so far, but the remaining updates of Season 4 will surely start providing more answers.
EditHeroes vs Villains
The theme for Season 4 seems to pit heroes against villains as so many of the costumes and skins play into this theme.
The two primary characters, Carbide and Omega, are the two heads of each faction. Both have their own set of unlockable challenges and each skin features different unlockable parts that become increasingly harder to get. The Week 6 challenges have you spraypainting Carbide and Omega posters scattered across the map.
The second loading screen unlocked in the Blockbuster challenges shows Omega escaping the prison. Is he behind all the current mysterious like the skulls on TV and the transporting Hop Rocks?
EditThe Mysterious Hatch
There's a lone hatch found in the depths of Wailing Woods with seemingly no purpose. You can't destroy and certainly can't go inside. Now that there's a rocket in the mix, perhaps this will somehow be used to escape whatever the rocket decides to hit?
EditGiant Dinosaur Footprint
At one point it seemed Season 5 may be dinosaur themed when a giant footprint was discovered to the west of Greasy Grove. Now it seems like it was merely something used for this season's movie and film theme, but you never know!
EditStrange Tree Roots
At one point during Season 4, strange roots started to appear all across the map. Like the hatch, they can't be destroyed and they seemingly have no purpose. Is there something growing underneath the map?
EditThe Evergreen Dusty Divot
Dusty Divot received the most changes throughout Season 4, specifically the drilling of the meteor and the earth's reclamation of the area. Every week, additional trees and larger patches of grass are starting to appear in the area. While it might not point to what Season 5 will be about, it is worth noting that this area will most likely look different by the time Season 4 comes to an end.
