It is hard to overstate the charm and ease of turning candy, chocolate, and pretzels into these adorable witches' brooms for your next Halloween party. Plus they are made just of peanut butter cups and pretzels — one of the most delicious combinations we know.

Melted Chocolate Is the Key to Brooms That Fly

We tried making these once by just shoving pretzel sticks into the peanut butter cups, but the results were cracked and smashed peanut butter cups we couldn't pick up.

The better way: Melt a cup full of chocolate (we like white for contrast, but semi-sweet totally works too) in the microwave or with this method, and then use the still-warm chocolate to coat the end of the pretzel and gently melt the peanut butter cups while the pressing the pretzel in gently.

The 10 Greatest Halloween Treats of All Time

Halloween is the best holiday to play with your food! We're counting down the 10 most iconic Halloween treats of the last 50 years, showing you the easiest ways to make them at home for maximum spooky fun.

Witches' Brooms

Makes 36 brooms

Prep time: 20 minutes

  • 1/2 cup

    white chocolate chips

  • 1 drop

    red food coloring (optional)

  • 1 drop

    yellow food coloring (optional)

  • 36

Reese's peanut butter cups (from one 12-ounce bag)

  • 2 cups

pretzel thin rods (about 40 rods), accounting for some breakage

Place the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high, stirring in 30-second intervals, until melted, about 90 seconds total. Add the red and yellow food coloring, if using, to dye the white chocolate orange.

Unwrap the peanut butter cups and arrange upside-down on a baking sheet or serving tray. Dip each pretzel stick into the white chocolate so that it coats about 1/4 inch of the pretzel. Gently press the chocolate-coated end into each peanut butter cup until it stands up straight.
