Rule #27: Incoming!

Sony Pictures will be bringing Zombieland 2 to theaters in 2019 with the original's director, writers, and many of its stars, including Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin.

As reported by THR, the sequel will go into production in January of 2019 and will arrive later in the year in October, ten years after 2009's original Zombieland.

Zombieland director, Ruben Fleischer, returns for the sequel and has most recently been working as director for this fall's Venom. The two writers for the original film, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, have been writers for Deadpool & Deadpool 2 and teased this announcement a couple months ago.

All of the previously mentioned actors and actresses have become Academy Award nominees since Zombieland, and Emma Stone won Best Actress for her performance in 2016's La La Land.

Woody Harrelson, who was most recently seen in Solo: A Star Wars Story, will reportedly appear in Fleischer's Venom later this year.

Zombieland 2 will "once again put the focus on comic mayhem, taking the quartet from the White House to the American heartland as they face off against new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But, most of all, according to the studio, they have to face the growing pains of their snarky, makeshift family."

Zombieland grossed $75 million domestically and $102.3 million globally, all with a budget of under $24 million. THR asked Sony about the budget for Zombieland 2, and although they "wouldn't comment on the budget for the sequel, it certainly is more."

While it doesn't appear that Bill Murray will be making a return for the sequel, he will be a part of Jim Jarmusch's new zombie comedy film, The Dead Don't Die. Murray will be joined by Adam Driver, Chloë Sevigny, Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi, and Selena Gomez.
